GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS

  1. Number of posts is tentative. ICSSR reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts and may or may not fill any post(s).
  2. The prescribed qualifications are the minimum and mere possession and fulfilment of the essential and desirable qualifications for a post does not entitle the candidate to be called for interview/ test.
  3. Application must be neatly typewritten on A-4 size paper in the prescribed format. The format can also be downloaded through the website www.icssr.org
  4. One recent passport size photograph should be pasted on the top right-hand corner of the application. Application without photograph will be treated as incomplete application.
  5. Envelope containing application should be super-scribed with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF DOCUMENTATION ASSISTANT (On contract).”
  6. The candidates short-listed for interview/ test will be informed by post, e-mail as well as notified in the ICSSR’s website. The ICSSR will not be responsible for any postal delay.
  7. Original certificates should be produced only at the time of interview/test. However, attested photocopies of testimonials may also be attached with the application in support of their educational qualifications and experience etc.

  10. Period of contract is initially for six months which may be extended subject to the performance of the candidate and further requirement of ICSSR.

Principal Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Librarian in overall supervision and management of all the sections/departments of the library.
  • Management of library staff and monitoring their professional work as allotted by the Librarian.
  • Assisting the Librarian in the budgeting process. Monitoring the library spending, seeking necessary approvals for spending, and ensuring financial processes are followed as per Institute’s rules.
  • Planning and management of Information Technology applications in the library.
  • Management of library resources (including e-resources) and services with the help of library staff.
  • Library Maintenance: Looking after all maintenance activities of the library which includes housekeeping, electrical, computer, stores, etc. and coordinating with the respective departments for the work.

Qualification and Personal Profile

  • Candidate should have done Ph.D. or NET or SLET/SET qualified. First Class (60% or above) in MLISc or equivalent qualification
  • Overall, 18 years of relevant experience, with 10 years or more in an academic library of repute

Compensation

Based on the experience and qualifications, compensation for selected candidates is likely to be in the range of level 12 as mapped to 7th CPC pay scales plus other standard entitlements as per IIMB Contract Appointment Rules
